    Terms & Conditions:

    • Application Fees & SRF: A one-time, non-refundable fee payable by the student.
    • Recurring Charges (Included): Health Insurance, Library Fees, Academic Resources Fees, Student Guild Membership Fee, & Lab Fees.
      • Excluded: Student permit extension fees (due to passport expiry, program extension, or other reasons).
    • External Examination & Clinical Costs: The student is responsible for fees associated with USMLE, NBME, IFOM, or other licensing, comprehensive, and subject examinations, as well as the cost of living in Jamaica and the USA during clinical sciences.
    • On-Campus Stay: A minimum of one year of residency in institute dorms is mandatory unless special permission for off-campus stay is granted by AAIMS Administrators.
    • Malpractice Insurance: The student is responsible for malpractice insurance costs during Clinical Rotations, which vary based on the chosen location.
    • Additional Student Responsibilities: Costs for Books, Laptop, Scrubs, White Coat, Graduation Fees, Travel, Repeat Courses, Remediation, Re-sit Examinations, Late Fees, Transcript Fees, Status Letters, and other miscellaneous expenses are the responsibility of the student.
    • Visa Fees: Any visa fees incurred before arrival in or departure from Jamaica are the student’s responsibility.
    • Discounted Fees: The Tuition Fees and Recurring Fee structure mentioned are discounted rates applicable only to students from countries with economies in transition and developing economies.

    • Payment Policy: All payments must be made in full by the due date. Failure to do so or payment in installments will result in the forfeiture of any discounted fee structure, and the student will be liable for the full regular tuition fee.
    • Academic Performance & Discount: Failure in any course or low academic performance may impact the offered concession fee, potentially leading to the forfeiture of the entire discount amount.
    • Repeat Course Fees: Students repeating any course, including during clerkship, will be charged the full regular tuition fee structure at the prevailing rate.
    • Program Discontinuation/Transfer: Students who discontinue the program or transfer to another University are required to repay the balance of any tuition discount/concession received for the completed terms/years to obtain clearance from the Bursary.

    • Licensing Eligibility: By accepting the offer letter, students acknowledge that their licensing eligibility is subject to the professional licensing regulations of their respective country.
    • Fee Changes: All fees are subject to change at any time. Please refer to the refund policy on our website: www.aaims.edu.jm.
    • Clinical Rotations: AAIMS students have the option to undertake Clinical Rotations in the USA & UAE, subject to payment of applicable clinical and physician fees, as well as living expenses according to the respective hospital and country’s fee norms.

    Items Included in the Fee Structure: Lab fees, Library Fees, Health Insurance in Jamaica, Student Guild membership fee.

    Tuition: Includes Clinical rotations tuition completed in Jamaica. Additional costs will apply for completing clinical rotations in the USA at the prevailing rate.

    USA Visa & USMLE Fees: The student is responsible for all USA Visa and USMLE application fees.

    Malpractice Insurance (Clinical Rotations): The student is responsible for malpractice insurance during Clinical Rotations.

    USMLE Exams: USMLE STEP 1 & STEP 2 will be completed within the duration of the course.

    Placement: Placement assistance will be provided after completing the clinical license exam, with a minimum starting salary of 5000 USD per month.

    Tuition Refund Policy (School of Medicine): Refunds are determined by the Accounting Department based on the following schedule:

    • First week of class: 90% refund
    • Second week of class: 60% refund
    • Third week of class: 50% refund
    • Beyond the 3rd week: No refund

An intensive USMLE training program is integrated into the medical curriculum from Day 1. Graduates are also eligible to practice in Jamaica. The current first-attempt USMLE pass rate is 85%, with scores ranging from the 82nd to the 99th percentile.

    • Integrated Medicine Curriculum: AAIMS is the first institution in the Caribbean islands to implement an Integrated Medicine Curriculum (system-based teaching, integrating Embryology, Histology, Physiology, Pharmacology, Pathology, and Microbiology simultaneously for each system, along with Problem-Based Learning and Tutorials). This approach, similar to top US medical schools, helps students achieve high scores in the USMLE. Passing USMLE Step 1, Step 2CK, and Step 2CS is required to graduate with an MD degree from AAIMS and become ECFMG certified.
    • Problem-Based Learning & Tutorials: Problem-based learning and small group tutorials are integral to the basic sciences curriculum, where students present cases. This not only enhances medical knowledge but also develops communication, ethical, and personal skills, fostering well-rounded doctors.
    • Clinical Rotations (USA): AAIMS has affiliations with teaching hospitals in the USA for clinical rotations (Years 4 & 5) in Baltimore, Washington DC, Chicago, and Atlanta.
    • Clinical Rotations (Jamaica): Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Health, Jamaica, AAIMS students have access to hospitals with approximately 750 beds for clinical rotations.
